a 28-a Conferință științifică internațională “Turism și spatiul rural”On May 22 and 23, 2026, the 28th International Scientific Conference “Tourism and Rural Space” took place at the headquarters of the National Agency for Mountain Areas, located at 23 Runc Street, Vatra Dornei, Suceava County. The event was organized by the “Gheorghe Zane” Institute for Economic and Social Research of the Romanian Academy – Iași Branch, the National Agency for Mountain Areas (ANZM) within the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Mountain Economy Center (CE-MONT) within the “Costin C. Kirițescu” National Institute for Economic Research of the Romanian Academy.

On May 22, the event—honored by the presence of prominent figures from governmental, academic, and research environments both from Romania and abroad—began with opening remarks and welcome messages addressed to the participants by officials and organizers.

A variety of papers, reports, and speeches were presented during the conference, sparking numerous questions, comments, and discussions held within a framework of high scientific and academic standing.

May 23 was marked by a field visit for the participants to tourist attractions in “Țara Dornelor” (Dorna Land): the Vatra Dornei Spa Casino, the Dorna Candrenilor Balneoclimateric Resort, the “Poiana” Agritourism Guesthouse in Poiana Negrii, etc.
